Northwestern Mutual Financial Network,
The Zuzolo Financial Group
As a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual, I learned life-long skills in the area of sales, networking, and financial advising. Working within a team of 30 interns, two college mentors, and various staff around the office, I was able to learn the basic skills of successfully completing a sales call as well as in-depth knowledge of insurance and investment products in the field of Life, Disability, and Health Insurance. I am currently licensed to sell various types of insurance as well as variable annuities in CT and VA. My experience within this internship consisted of developing my own clientele through personal qualified suspects and networking among those. Meeting with clients, analyzing their financial situations through a personal needs analysis, and creating recommendations tailored to each client made up the majority of my day to day responsibilities. Success in this internship consists of being self-motivated and goal-oriented. Reaching week by week goals against our peers was our motivation. By the end of the 10-week internship, I was able to complete 4 insurance package sales on close connections and referrals. This put me at the top 15% within the summer interns. I also was Intern of the Week from July 30-August 3 for submitting 2 applications for insurance in that week alone. This internship allowed me to expand my knowledge of different insurance products and the art of selling, but most importantly gave me real-world experience in the financial services industry.
