James Madison University, Office of Alumni Relations
Administrative Office Assistant:
Working within the Alumni Office at James Madison for the past three years has allowed me to appreciate all that JMU offers for current students and alumni. I have worked directly with planning events such as Homecomings and Bluestone Reunions with over 700 attendees. In the office, it is my duty to answer the telephones and assist in answering questions as well as directing callers to other departments around campus. Greeting students, faculty, and alumni as they enter our building is also one of my daily responsibilities. Frequently utilizing our alumni database to search demographic and geographic information is necessary in assisting alumni desiring to reach out and find a classmate. I engage in a positive attitude and utmost customer service when working with the public, maintaining a positive reputation for JMU. Strong verbal communication and problem solving skills are necessary for the job when dealing with dissatisfied alumni via telephone or in person.
